YouTube Podcast Summarizer is a browser extension that reads YouTube video transcripts and formats them into a prompt for an AI assistant of your choice. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the extension accesses and how it is handled.
None. This extension does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. There are no analytics, no telemetry, and no backend.
The extension temporarily stores a single item in your browser's local storage
(chrome.storage.local): the formatted prompt text (video transcript + metadata).
This is used only to pass the prompt from the YouTube tab to the AI tab you open.
It is automatically deleted within 5 minutes and never leaves your device.
With your permission, the extension copies the prompt to your clipboard as a fallback so you can paste it manually if auto-fill does not work. Nothing is read from your clipboard.
When you choose an AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity), the extension opens that service in a new browser tab. Any data you submit to those services is governed by their own privacy policies. This extension has no affiliation with those services.
Any updates to this policy will be reflected by a new "Last updated" date above.
